Dr. Dean H. Whitman grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He completed undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Whitman was commissioned in the United States Air Force, where he served on active duty for 14 years. Dr. Whitman completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California; he remained at David Grant on the teaching faculty and, in 2000, was the recipient of the Vincent Farhood Outstanding Educator Award. Dr. Whitman was then transferred to Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas where he served as the Director of Education for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry.

His military decorations include the Air Force Achievement Medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, and two Air Force Meritorious Service Medals. In 1998, Dr. Whitman served on a humanitarian mission to Peru to provide oral surgical support to the underserved population of the southern coastal Peru. Dr. Whitman currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force Reserve at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Dr. Whitman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Fellow of the National Dental Board of Dental Anesthesiology, and a member of the American Dental Association. He is experienced in all facets of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with a special interest in orthognathic surgery. Dr. Whitman is married to Nancy Aguilar of New Orleans, Louisiana and they have two teenage daughters.

Matthew B. Hall, D.M.D.Dr. Matthew B. Hall was born in San Pedro, California, and received his undergraduate degree from UCLA. He received his dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry. He completed his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Hall then received his medical degree and completed his general surgery internship at Hahnermann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Hall was a professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville from 1978-1990. He then was Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kentucky from 1990-1995. Dr. Hall has authored many articles for professional journals and has authored chapters which have appeared in several textbooks. In addition to his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Hall has received advanced training in facial cosmetic surgery. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is board certified.

Dr. Hall is affiliated with Florida Hospital. He is a member of numerous professional organizations; the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Dental Schools, the American Association of Implant Dentistry, the American Medical Association, the Florida Dental Association and the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Hall and his wife Donna, have two children, Amanda and Preston, and they live in the Orlando area. Dr. Hall enjoys many outdoor activities and is an avid long-distance runner, triathlete, and has done several ironman triathlon.

 

Michael S. Willis, D.M.D.

Dr. Michael S. Willis was born to a career military family at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah. However, Florida has always been home. After attending high school in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Willis received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida. Prior to attending graduate school, Dr. Willis was a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy. He received his dental degree from the University of Florida where he served as senior class president and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Willis completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta where he was chief resident. He practiced several years on the west coast of Florida before joining Orlando Oral and Facial Surgery.

Dr. Willis is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Orlando Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Additionally, he is a member of the International College of Oral Implantologists, Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Florida Dental Association, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando. He is affiliated with Florida Hospital.

Dr. Willis has extensive experience with medically compromised patients, pathology, preprosthetic/dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, head and neck infections, laser surgery, orthognathic surgery, and outpatient intravenous sedation/general anesthesia.

Dr. Willis lives in the Longwood Area, enjoys golf and is and avid Gator sports fan.

Dr. Ruben Figueroa received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras in 1980. He then began his residency in training at the University District Hospital in Rio Piedras, and earned a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1983. From 1983 until 1992 he maintained a private practice in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dr. Figueroa then entered into academic dentistry. First he completed his Master of Science Degree in Health Profession Education at the Baylor University College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Then he held academic appointments at both Baylor and Boston Universities. While at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine from 1999 until 2005, he served as Director of the Undergraduate Oral Surgery Program and Clinic. He was an integral member of the attending staff for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program at Boston University of practiced actively in the dental schools intramural clinic.


Dr. Figueroa has experience in all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery and has provided continuing education to dentists and surgeons from all over the world, He has been recognized by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as a recognized expert and lecturer in the area of alveolar decortication, a surgical technique used to accelerate tooth movement in selected orthodontic cases. He maintains an affiliation with Boston University and currently serves as a course director and lecturer in Pain Control for Dental Hygienists at BU.

Dr. Figueroa has been board certified by American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Fellow of the National Dental Board of Dental Anesthesiology. He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. He is licensed to practice dentistry in both Florida and Puerto Rico, and is a member of the American Dental and Florida Dental Associations. Ruben and his wife Annie live in Winter Springs, Florida.

Michael S. Willis, D.M.D.

Dr. Abdul M. Azizi was born in Afghanistan and immigrated to the United States with his family at an early age. He grew up in Palm Beach County and attended John I. Leonard High School. Based on his excellent academic success, he was awarded and he accepted a full academic scholarship to the University of Florida. He completed undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Cell Science, Chemistry, and Business Administration and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1995. After graduation, he was employed by the University of Florida, College of Dentistry as a research scientist, where he studied the genetic engineering of oral bacteria and the development of new antibiotics.

Dr. Azizi then entered the College of Dentistry and graduated with his Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 2001. He then completed a one year fellowship in the

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at the University of Florida and subsequently gained acceptance into specialty study in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine/North Broward Hospital District and the Baptist Health System Hospitals in South Florida. His residency training was four years in length, and he excelled under the guidance of his mentors Dr. Joseph McCain and Dr. Steven Kaltman. His training was comprehensive, and he has interests and extensive experience in the areas of dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, management of maxillofacial pathology, orthognathic surgery and the treatment of traumatic injuries to face and jaws.

Dr. Azizi is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Central Florida Dental Society, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando. He is actively pursuing board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he holds privileges with the Florida Hospital system. Abdul now resides in the Orlando area. He enjoys golf, travel, fishing and fast cars. As a dedicated member of the Gator Nation, you can always find him on autumn Saturdays watching University of Florida football. On Sundays, his allegiance is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
